If you have ever read any of my posts, you will see that I am always on the look out for easy knitting patterns I can do without too much intricate counting, patterns or concentration! I love things that grow from the needles fast and I came across this easy knit shawl pattern.
Shawls are a huge fashion accessory now, as they keep that coolness off the shoulders while out, you can knit them as heavy or as light as you want, and they are a great accessory to have on the couch to take off that chill on those winter evenings. I found the video below and thought I would share it with you. In the video she uses a very lightweight yarn and slightly larger needles. You could practice to see what works best for you.
Simply yarn over for the first stitch on each row. That is basically all you have to remember to do, and this will grow very quickly into the traditional triangle that shawls have. You could then add a really cool fringe, or if you are really energetic you could add a knitted border. I love the idea of lots of soft fringe.
Fringe is easy to make, and I think it would look awesome using the same yarn. You would want to put a few strands of fringe in each stitch. Or you could simply leave it plain. The yarn over does create a nice pattern edge.

There are so many varieties of yarns online now too that are worth checking out. I find the variety to be greater, and it is nice having it delivered right to you. Of course if you have a favourite yarn shop stick with them, but since I love to knit simple patterns I like the yarn to be more expressive, so have found different ones online that I like.
My name is Diane and I love all arts and crafts including painting, drawing and knitting (I painted the bee above!) I decided after many years to take up knitting again and needed simple patterns that I could do while watching TV or listening to music that would help dial down stress. I hope you enjoy some of my own projects as well as ones I have found.
